Roar! Steak in Coals

(download)
I grill an awful lot, yet despite my wife's claims of loving what I grill she never wants to cook on the grill herself. As a result of this separation I've taken to thinking that grilling is my dedicated manly domain. But I've never felt as macho as I did tonight when i tossed a big ole NY strip steak directly onto scorching hot coals. Intrigued? Read on!

Today's Sandwich: Tuna salad with grilled scallions

Tuna1
A sunny day in the upper 80's put me in the mood for something cool and simple for lunch. A tuna salad sandwich sounded spot-on, but the red onion I had in the fridge was sadly moldy. Tuna just isn't the same without a little crunch in it, so I uncovered some healthy looking scallions, and decided to toss them on the grill I had going to prep some dinner fixings for later tonight. While I was at it I figured I should grill the rye bread too, and I ended up with a delicious tuna salad sandwich with garden lettuce and grilled scallions on grilled rye toast. A surprise great summer sandwich.

Turkey Burger Patty Melts

Turkey burgers are rarely good in my experience, but this take on a Bobby Flay recipe was pretty killer. Everything is done on the grill of course, and the flavors in the grilled onion relish add a solid punch to the indulgent meltiness of the emmanthaler cheese and grilled rye bread both soaked in suprisingly yummy turkey burger juices. It's Memorial Day weekend, get your BBQ on!

Grillsmoked_wings_07
Oh boy! Memorial Day gets me going every year.... its the (early) start of summer and everyone wants to barbecue. And I mean Barbecue, BBQ, Barbeque, Bar-B-Q, Bar-be-que, 'Cue... doesn't matter what you call it, what you think it means, or what state you call home. Memorial Day unites all Americans over outdoor cookery. To this new england native, "a bbq" is simply a gathering of family and friends with the host cooking something on a grill. Could be burgers and dogs. Might be chicken. Maybe you'll score some smoked ribs. Might be a gas grill. Could be a weber kettle. Maybe a five-dollar hibatchi. Just about the only thing you can be sure of, is that at a bbq, you'll find friends and family ready to toss back a few drinks, lounge in the sun, shoot the shit, and eat some fire-cooked goodness.

So it's in that spirit of friendly gatherings that I've pulled together a few of my favorite grill recipes from over the years that are bound to please. You don't want to be worrying about what to make, you want to be kicking it with your friends, right? So if you're unsure of what to make this weekend and are looking for a few good ideas, please read on!
